Description of Works

A refurbishment project under D&B procurement, with client designed M&E systems. The project consisted of a full strip out back to shell and core of one of the University’s library buildings. The main focus on the design was the usability of the space and thermal comfort of the users, which prior to the refurbishment works was a huge problem.

A new chilled piped water cooling system was added, with a number of fan coil units on each level to combine with the natural ventilation scheme. The building was fully equipped with new electrical wiring with a lighting control system, new data infrastructure and structured cabling as well as new fire and security systems. A number of existing systems such as the DDA and smoke extract were required to be retained where necessary.

A new space plan was incorporated, to achieve a collaborative working environment with colour scheme and floor finishes throughout.
