Tesco Store & Maisonettes
The project comprised the reconfiguration to the ground floor of a prominent art deco building to create a shell and core for Tesco Express together with the complete refurbishment of three first floor maisonettes, new flat roof coverings to the entire building and the construction of one new maisonette at roof level with wonderful sea views.
The building required to be sub divided to provide a new party wall between a proposed new development and Tesco Express, requiring substantial support to the existing roof together with power floated slabs for the incoming tenant. The external brickwork on the first and second floors were reappointed where necessary, cavaties cleaned and the existing roof was covered with a seamless system.
Tesco required the removal of a concrete encased steel column within the existing ground floor structure, which required considerable redesign, temporary support of the structure and new construction works to facilitate this late instruction.
